The Fall of Berlin Wall – The Rise of Love and Unity!!

Let us all go back to the year 1961, and picture living in Germany. It’s August 1961, a twelve foot concrete wall stands stark between East Berlin (communist dominated) and west Berlin (Democratic) - dividing families, relations and above all dividing the love and unity.

Now, as long as the gate is locked, as long as this tall wall is allowed to stand, it is not only a question of disunity that remains open, but the question of freedom too. But this question does not have to linger in our heads for a long time as; we are going to take a leap to the year 1989.

Yes, a big leap to 1989, to be precise - November 9, 1989! The year the Berlin wall fell – and along came crashing the hatred, the violence, the in humanity and everything else that divided the love and humanity. It blew a trumpet with the message of hope and non- violence - more than a fall; it was the “RISE” of love, peace and unity.

9th November 2014 will mark the 25th anniversary of ‘The Fall of the Berlin Wall’. To honor this day, a series of events will be held in Germany.

Today, ‘The Fall of the Berlin Wall’ is significant not only for Germany but the entire world – specifically, to us, Indians. When we Indians boast of living in world that is connected socially and economically, why not question ourselves, do a self examination with regards to the way we deal when it comes to peace, unity and humanity? Why don’t we try to break barriers related to these issues? Why we are increasingly divided territorially by walls that stand much stronger and taller than the Berlin wall ever did?

The peaceful revolution at Berlin on November 9, 1989 that lead to reunification is an inspiring notion that freedom and the will of the people can knock down any barriers and lift the iron curtain that divides the world.

To all those out there reading this message, feel it, it is never too late! There is always a chance for a change, do you believe this? If your answer is positive, all you need to do is “be that change”!

Today, let us challenge the strength we have within ourselves, the strength to impact lives, transform our society from within, make a difference, be a change and push political rifts into history.

Remember, any objective can be achieved through a nonviolent struggle!

Finally, how many walls could you as a human being bring down to help your country rise in PEACE, LOVE and UNITY?
