Humble Wirefighters

At the end of this article, I am sure enough you will be able to figure out who these “Humble Wirefighters” really are. Read through. . .

Not later than 08:30 these guys hit the office, the very first thing they have to do is, (they probably don’t want to, but as said, ‘they have to’: p) check their mail box, and there, the work begins- just the start of the so called tiring day- sigh! The mails just keep pouring in, wonder what goes wrong overnight. :(

And then, they have to Get-Set-Start; start with replying the mails, attending calls and off course looking into the in-office networking issues. It wouldn’t be wrong to call them the “F1” key of the IT firm (hehe…: p). You’ll not be surprised to see them run in and out of the server room, pop their eyes out and stare at the complete black command screen, push their heads inside the CPU and so on.

But I must say, these guys need to have great analyzing powers and yes, yes, the problem solving knack too, undoubtedly, the guys at our office, have it all in abundance. (If they didn’t have these skills, probably I wouldn’t be hitting the keys and writing this article). In other words, all they need to know and figure out is – “how stuff really works”.

They come across various kinds of issues some as tangled as noodles and some as lame as a penguin’s chocolate bar!! But, to agree on the fact, these issues whether big or small, help them in learning new things and building new ideas. (Remember, learning is never ending process???) And the attitude with which they take up that work, ohm…. Seems like, they are going to have a gala time working on it.

According to me, the work environment also matters, working for a small firm will make you think the job is pretty easy, but if you have to work for a large firm, which has its clients spread over a wide geographical area, things can get a little tedious, but, but, but, hold on, this doesn’t stop the guys at our office from fulfilling their duties, they do complete justice to it, and yes, may be one of the reasons being - the environment – one of a kind- simply pleasant.

I believe the guys here completely believe and follow the great words penned down by Steve Jobs, which says –“our work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” I say this because, even after working for a whole long day, they feel they haven’t worked an hour (yeah... that’s surprising; probably they are ‘Being Humble’ :) ).

By the way, did you get who this article is talking about?? Yes, they are the System Administrators!

Are you interested in a career in networking???
